    Dear Mr. Kisembo,
It was with great interest that I discovered the Media Challenge Initiative as aired on CNN recently. This initiative created by yourself and your partner will go a long way towards being an incubator for top class international journalists from Africa and should be both encouraged and supported.
    Allow me to introduce myself.
I am the Managing Director of Purple Mouse Training. Since it’s inception in 2002 we have been instrumental in training over 8000 students to prepare them for incorporation into various fields in the broadcast market. Although we are based in Johannesburg South Africa I have personally facilitated training courses in Mombasa, Maun, Harare and Saudi Arabia. In 2015 I was tasked with the serious task of training editors on behalf of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the Rwanda genocide in Arusha and more recently was contracted to oversee the installation and commissioning of Africa’s newest news channel NewzroomAfrika based in Johannesburg. Part of my portfolio included the training of editors as well as journalists in line with agreed optimum workflows.
I’m getting in touch to establish whether your initiative might benefit from similar bespoke training either by way of train-the-trainer or direct training for your students (or both if required). Previous assignments of this nature include training courses for all current South African broadcasters, production companies and tertiary institutions that include Rhodes School of Journalism, Durban University of Technology, AFDA Film School, Pretoria University of Technology and various South African Government institutions.
I would like to discuss with you a training programme that complies with internationally accepted procedures that will benefit your students and prepare them to be productive at the coalface from day one after graduation. This might include but not be limited to disciplines like:
Camera work in the field and studio including optimum camera settings, lighting and shot composition. Maximizing video codecs throughout the production workflow.
In-depth understanding of non-linear editing platforms and how to get the most out of their functionality. (I notice you have selected Premiere Pro as your chosen platform). I am also an Avid Certified Instructor and Final Cut Pro Certified Trainer.
Crafting a story on the timeline including shot selection, trimming methods, incorporating text and graphics, branding, colour grading and audio mixing.
Optimal export of edited sequences for multi-platform delivery like television broadcast and social media posts to maintain digital integrity and quality.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can add value to the goals of your initiative. Yours sincerely,
    Michael Kruger.
