Shifting narratives, shaping culture

Challenge We Face

Traditional media in Uganda and across Africa faces a significant age problem, with young people being largely underserved and underrepresented. In Uganda, where 73.5% of the population is under 30, and as Africa's youthful population is expected to make up 25% of the world's population by 2050, traditional news outlets primarily focus on entertainment rather than addressing critical public policy issues that matter to the youth. This creates a "youth news desert," leaving young audiences disconnected from the information necessary to engage in democratic processes and drive development. Without relevant and engaging news content, an entire generation risks being uninformed and excluded from shaping the future of their communities.
