The Danny Kyazze Best Radio News Anchor Award

In memory of Dan Kyazze, one of Uganda’s longest serving news anchors with around 50 years experience, this award will go to a radio anchor that media students find fascinating, engaging, and informative and trust as a good source of news. 

The Bbale Francis Best Male News Anchor Award

Named in memory legendary news anchor JEM Bbale Francis, this award goes to a male news anchor that not only provides dynamic presentation of news but also draws audiences through incorporation of wise commentary.

The Rose Mary Nankabirwa Best Female News Anchor Award

This award recognizes a female news anchor that not only presents the news per se but also represents the whole complex nexus of all the elements of news presentation. Named in memory of former meticulous news anchor Rose Mary Nankabirwa, this award will go to a female news anchor identified by media students as the best engaging news presenter in the English language category

Unconventional Radio Presenter Award

This award will go to a presenter who has taken Radio presenting to the next exceptional level. He/she pushes hard to engage the audience and always delivers with new programming and unreasonable ideas. Such presenters make interviews a conversation rather than an examination but are able to intelligently put on the spot controversial topics/questions. They do research and they sound highly researched and knowledgeable with facts about the issue. The never stick to the script.

This award will go to a presenter who has redefined TV presenting to a disruptive edge. He/she pushes hard to engage the audience and always delivers with new programming and unreasonable ideas. Social Media Utilization Award

Social media is part and parcel of the media and news industry. Social media is playing a complementary role in driving news to audiences in real time, breaking news and sharing news. This award will go to a TV station that has incorporated the use of social media in sharing updates, news and information and one that media students have found to be highly engaging on social media.

Media House with Best Internship Program Award

Internships provide students with an opportunity to engage in real time work experience to put into action the theories learnt in class. This award is to recognize a media house which has provided the most positive and engaging experience for their interns. Students will consider the following to vote; induction and training, content of work, ability to work on different projects, responsibility, interaction with senior management, mentorship, feedback on performance, social life, and quality of supervision

Live event coverage Award

In this digital age, live TV is on demand especially the blow by blow coverage of very important events that people are unable to attend in person. The best live event coverage award will be given to the media house that redefined live coverage and gave media students a great viewing experience through cutting edge technology in areas of production, graphics and social media to complement live coverage.

Media Lifetime achievement Award

This award recognizes media personalities with an outstanding record and accomplished career in journalism in Uganda. Recipients of this award are writers and presenters who have kept an excellent and exemplary track record as journalists and can be considered media role models to aspiring journalists.

Radio Documentary Programme

This award goes to a radio show that catches your ear with its un common premise, that hooks you in with its surprising and detailed information and with rigorous inquisitive treatment to uncommon topics   and presents them in light and interesting manners that keeps you coming back for more
